Dominic Bridge y Kara Wenham

Bio & Details
Dominic is what happens when a philosophy professor and music composer get it on. Born into a family of artists and introspective deep thinkers, he started dancing in 2005 at the age of eighteen at the University of Oregon. Completely taken by tango, a year later he packed his bags for Buenos Aires. From the beginning, his focus on connection, action-reaction, energy flow, and emotion as something to be cultivated has had a deep impact on his dancing and teaching. Dominic moved to Europe when he was contracted to take over instruction of tango school in Florence in 2008. In 2010 he moved to Paris, and from 2011-2013 partnered with Sigrid Van Tilbeurgh, featuring in various prominent tango festivals. His career became increasingly international, with artistic residencies and tango school-building in Florence (La Pablo), Paris (Tango Mon Amour), Moscow (Tango Mío), Budapest (Barrio del Tango), Portland (PDX Tango). He’s now based in Berlin. With over twelve years dedicated to teaching, a background in music and psychology, Dominic’s passion for teaching continues to grow constantly, having worked with thousands of students in over fifteen countries.
Dominic’s students appreciate not only his natural ability as a dancer, but his self-awareness and skill in articulating what many people find all but ineffable about tango. He is a devoted teacher who strives to open inner doors within his students so that they may further discover themselves and other life treasures along the way.

came to tango in 2000 and since then has been going ever deeper into this dance form both as a dancer and as a teacher. She learned, trained and worked as a dancer/teacher in Buenos Aires where she lived for eleven years and was affected not just by the many wonderful teachers and dancers along the way, but also by the culture itself. She danced for seven years with Matias Facio and then another seven years with Javier Antar. These two partnerships powerfully shaped both her dancing and pedagogy, and with them she traveled and attended prestigious festivals and schools both in Buenos Aires and around the globe.

Kara has developed a pedagogy that is designed to empower students by giving them tools that focus on a solid technique, a clear idea of the structure of the dance, connection, lead and follow, musicality, improvisation, and the development of a personal style. Her interest and aim in teaching is not the ‘what’ of the movement but rather the ‘how’ and the ‘why’ of it.

Since her new partnership with Dominic Bridge, she has discovered an exciting new path for her dancing that proves that there is no end in sight with tango. Their partnership fits easily and has quickly asserted a strong tanguero stamp that is both true in essence and form. While their musicality and improvisational capacity reaches a high level, it always comes from a solid and authentic connection between them. From the couple the dance is born, and this is perhaps one of the most satisfying facets of their dancing together: what they create together is more than the sum of their parts.

Tania is a dancer, translator, and epicurean. She started dancing tango in early 2012 during a semester of independent studies in Buenos Aires and has been in love with it ever since. Tango came as a rediscovery of a life-long passion that had been left aside during her schooling; as she studied tap, capoeira and classical ballet through the Royal Academy of Dancing program for over ten years. Since 2012 T’s embarked on a search for self-improvement and worked with a number of established maestros including Horacio Godoy, Moira Castellano, Corina Herrera, Ruben & Sabrina Véliz, Ariadna Naveira & Fernando Sánchez, Sebastián Jimenez, Maria Ines Bogado, Ines Muzzopappa and much more. Tango also plays well with her gripping need of discovery and has opened the doors even further for an already experienced traveler, who now has an extra reason to go travel the world.
